It’s been five years since I wrote Lian McAndrews and the Perfect Human World. Like a trusty old nag you love too much to send straightaway to the knackers, I’m putting Lian, his friends, his sweetheart (I hope they have a passel of kids by now) and his gentle passion permanently out to pasture, to be enjoyed by any passers-by who want to share them and their bond…
There are three paths to the pasture:
(1) Go to scribd.com, type in my name, and up it will come, free and easy to read there or to download. (I tried to get the colored cover to appear [thus the “revision”] but little luck.)
(2) You can go through my order form (it’s still free) at www.gordonburgett.com/order3.htm. The digial copy at our server will quickly download it. (Beware: that will also put you on my free newsletter list. Another Christmas gift. And if it’s not your thing, it’s easier to escape than join!)
(3) Or just drop me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll rush you a copy as well.
Afraid to get too close without 1,000 words telling you of the dangers that lurk on its pages? What about a few paragraphs? See www.gordonburgett.com/SummaryofLianbook.doc.
This is my only novel. It was great fun for me, but you might nonetheless read it with caution–and great kindness!
Anyway, it’s a gift. Enjoy the holidays!
I just got a copy of my most recent article, this about ancillary publishing, from the IBPA’s excpetional monthly magazine, the Independent. It just appeared in the December issue, and is viewable at either the association’s website or mine.
The editor, Judith Appelbaum, did an excellent editing job–and is great to work with. The group, the Independent Book Publishers Association, is first rate. You might be interested in the Publishing University they hold each year before the summer Book Expo America in New York City. (If I’m speaking there I will let you know.)
In this article I take one book and show you how you can rather easily and very inexpensively publish that book in 10 different versions in less than a month. I also give details about working with Lulu, CreateSpace, Blurb, Lightning Source, Kindle, Smashwords, and Squibd…
Incidentally, my e-book called “Writing Your Book for Ancillary Publishing” is also just out. I will release “Publishing and Marketing Your Book by Ancillary Publishing” by the end of this month. See www.ancillarypublishing.com for details as they become available.
Another way: just read my free monthly newsletter (due 1/1//2919) for up-to-date info too.
Hope you enjoy the article!
A fast post simply to share the good news! I was asked so often if the audio CD program “Writing Your Book for Ancillary Publishing” released last week was available digitally that I sat down and converted it to an 80-page e-book by the same title.
The purpose of writing a book for this format is to create five magic files (really two, one modified with the book’s text, one with the cover). So that’s precisely what my book does: it shows you the pre-book prep process, the 22 steps you take to actually write the book, and the process that creates the files needed for ancillary publishing from that book’s content.
Once you have the book and files done, the next step is submission of the respective files to any or all of the seven ancillary publishers, who will then publish the book in 10 distinct versions. FREE! And available to buy by family, friends. colleagues, and the world in hours (as e-books) and days (as bound books).
I will have “Publishing and Marketing Your Book by Ancillary Publishing” out in e-book format by the end of December, which will provide the second half of this process. (See the newsletter on January 4 for those details. If you’re not a recipient yet, subscribe free and you’ll get three free reports too,)
In the meantime, look at www.writingyourapbook.com for content details. It costs $39 but if you enter coupon # 81165 for the e-book before 1/1/10 you can save $10! Order the e-book in either the e-book or audio CD formats at www.gordonburgett.com/order3.htm, please.
(If you prefer the audio CD version, it costs $39 but also has a $10 discount good until 12/15/09. It is #81164.)
